Molly's Muse: No. 4

Another week flew by this September...I can't believe tomorrow is officially October! For your weekly roundup to muse over: my dream hotel in Cumberland Island, an Insta-worthy breakfast in Wayzata, the must-read book you should be pre-ordering today, and my lovely apple orchard visit!

The temperature is dropping, the leaves are changing beautiful colors here on Lake Minnetonka. It looks like I took my paintbrush and painted the shoreline with all the best fall colors. Although I've been itching to travel, I do enjoy this time at home...it's quiet and peaceful, and I can't think of a better way to spend these fall evenings that bundled up in my blanket with a nice glass of wine. I hope you're enjoying this fall so far...let's make sure to savor every pumpkin-spice drop of it.

dreaming of Cumberland island

Have you heard of Cumberland Island? I can't believe this place exists--from wild horses to beautiful, untouched ancient oak trees draped in Spanish moss...this island will take your breath away. I was able to make a short day trip here this summer while we were staying on nearby Amelia Island, although Cumberland is actually part of Georgia. Cumberland Island is not only rich in nature but also in US history. The island is only accessible by boat, which makes it even more special.

Here pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches and wide marshes whisper the stories of both man and nature. Natives, missionaries, enslaved African Americans and Wealthy Industrialists all walked here.  Cumberland Island is also home to over 9,800 acres of National Parkland. (Bonus if you have an annual park pass!).

The Greyfield Inn was once the 19th century retreat of Thomas and Lucy Carnegie, who built Greyfield in 1900 for their daughter, Margaret. The home was converted to an inn in 1962 by Margaret’s daughter, Lucy, and her family. The Carnegie family still oversees the Inn, which exudes the romance and luxury of a grand hotel with the hospitality and Southern charm of a family home. Needless to say...I'm dying to return and stay at the Greenfield.

grocer's (breakfast) table

Wayzata's newest foodie gem, Grocer's Table, is open for breakfast! Grab a pumpkin spice latté, some pancakes, and a side of bacon and you're tastebuds will be in heaven. I also recommend: The Grocer's Breakfast Sandwich, and any of their breakfast extravagant breakfast toasts. *Pro-tip: order online and have your breakfast to-go at your convenience!

calling all elin hildebrand lovers

Even paradise has it's troubles in Elin's newest trilogy. It's finally that time to place your order for her 3rd book, Troubles in Paradise. I enjoy supporting Nantucket's very own Mitchell's Book Corner by ordering through them. Right now, they have some autographed copies for sale too! Although Elin lives on Nantucket and has many of her novels based there, this series takes place in St. John, BVI. I can't WAIT to warm up this fall with another one of Elin's juicy stories.

PS- I also love following Mitchell's Book Corner for their great reading suggestions and news :)

apple jack orchard visit

Last week, I visited Apple Jack Orchard in Delano, MN with my friend. This orchard has everything to satisfy your orchard wishes. There's an adorable market filled with handmade candles, mittens, baking and cooking supplies, and more. They sell fresh pie, breads, donuts and cider at their café. We ordered a slice of apple pie and some hot cider, and enjoyed it outside at their picnic area. There's pumpkins, gourds and lots of apples to pick, too! They are open daily; I went on a Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed a quiet and low-key visit.
